Cooling Off In Richmond

Don’t forget to click either 720P or 1080P in the YouTube box! =)

Every once in a while you get to live one of your childhood fantasies. Today was one of those days for me. I got to eat ice cream, ALL DAY.

Working Hard

That’s right, summer is here and it’s time cool off with tasty treats from around the city! My photographer friend Yuriy and I were recently recommended three unusually awesome places to get our sugar fixes. We were definitely up for the task.

Frozen Treats of Richmond

We started our day off with Qoola in Aberdeen Centre. These guys own a trendy frozen yogurt shop on the third floor of the mall and were happy to give us what would be our breakfast for the day. This is a ‘do-it-yourself’ place where they offer a handful of delicious frozen yogurt flavours and a large selection of toppings to choose from. There was everything from fresh fruit to nuts, to all the chocolate and sweets you would expect. How much? Well, that all depends…  After you’ve finished your masterpiece, they weigh it and you pay, based on the weight. Mine was HUGE and was only $6, so it’s good value for the frozen yogurt. I was told the record for biggest frozen yogurt was $12!!! WOW! The place was clean, the food was delicious, and I definitely would recommend it. Qoola was probably the healthiest choice of our day, which was why we chose it for breakfast.

For our next stop we headed to The Marble Slab. This is my favourite ice cream shop in the entire city and for good reason. If you’ve ever had a Marble Slab cone before you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you are seriously missing out on LIFE. They have a delicious assortment of gourmet homemade flavours, as well as just a TON of toppings to choose from.  What makes them unique? They actually have a ‘marble slab’ where they take the ice cream with your chosen toppings and hand grind/mix it all right before your eyes. The cones are huge, absolutely delicious, and completely customizable. I had a ‘Snickerdoodle’, which was a snicker, caramel hybrid. Best lunch ever!

On to dinner: ‘Screamers’ in Steveston. You’d be hard pressed to say you’ve never had a Screamer before. That’s right, everyone’s favourite childhood treat is back with a brand new store in Steveston that just recently opened up. A Screamer is soft serve ice cream mixed with ‘slurpee’. Simply put, it’s a sugary punch in the face that is absolutely delicious. (not to mention, refreshing on a hot day!) Screamers has four flavours to choose from and was a fantastic dinner, finishing off our fun filled day of frozen treats.

If you’re looking to cool off this summer in Richmond, definitely check out one of these fantastic choices. They are guaranteed to help you get your ice cream, soft serve, or frozen yogurt fix! (probably a nice sugar buzz, too!)
